Contours

“Contours” explores the hidden female figure within the commonplace t-shirt. Outlines reveal and flatten the form in two dimensions, challenging boundaries of the body within three-dimensional space. I am interested in the materiality and structure of clothes that function as a shell for the natural and organic self and how they play a role in one’s identity. This led to me to think about the existing skins that are used in fashion - fur, leather and other synthetic materials. Why is the body drawn to skins that originate from other sources other than its own?
